What is ISO 22000 in simple terms?
ISO 22000 is an international rulebook for keeping food safe across the whole supply chain. It tells an organisation how to build a management system that identifies food safety hazards, controls them at the right points, and proves that control with records and reviews. In simple terms, it takes the good practice a careful food business already tries to follow and turns it into a structured, repeatable system that can be checked by an outside auditor. Because it applies to everyone in the food chain, a farm, a factory, a logistics firm, and a caterer can all use the same framework to demonstrate that the food they handle is safe.
